Andrew Wyeth(1917-2009) - He was born in the US on July 12, 1917,died in his sleep on January 16 at the age of 91.He was one of the greatest 20th century American painters.
In his life,he was the recipient of numerous honorary degrees.Wyeth became the first painter to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom,and the first American artist since John Singer Sargent elected to the Académie des Beaux-Arts,and the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian honor bestowed by the United States legislature.
Wyeth started drawing at a young age, and with his father’s guidance, he mastered figure study and watercolor, and later learned egg tempera from brother-in-law Peter Hurd .
His works is harmonizing with nature,contain strong emotional currents, symbolic content, and underlying abstraction.
